In Bujinkan Ninjutsu Training, as well as many other traditional Japanese martial arts; Kurai Dori means, roughly, to take a position – to take a proper position – to catch the space. And while it is often seen as related to kamae, the protective combat and self-defense postures within ninpo-taijutsu / budo-taijutsu… just like our previous discussion on uke nagashi and “blocking,” it is much more than that.
